Shimanami Kaido Cycling Road

The Shimanami Kaido Cycling Road is Japan’s first cycling road that crosses a strait and runs for seventy km connecting Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture and Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture.

It is the only place on the three routes of the Honshu-Shikoku Bridge that has a bicycle and pedestrian path, where the beauty of the many islands spreads before you and you can enjoy the natural seasonal beauty.

It attracts many cyclists throughout the year, and has been highly praised even overseas, being selected as one of the best bike routes in the world by the US TV network CNN.
It was designated a “National Cycle Route,” established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, in November 2019.

Along the Shimanami Kaido, there are many convenient facilities for cyclists including bicycle rental terminals, rest areas, and accommodation facilities.

The Blue Line, installed in the Seto Inland Sea area including the Shimanami Kaido, guides cyclists from home and abroad even without a map in an easy-to-understand way.
