Infrastructure Tourismthrough Hokkaido’s Four Seasons
〜Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park〜
Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park is Hokkaido’s only national park established specifically to meet the prefecture’s need for a wide recreation area.
Fully opened in 2010, the park is used by approximately 600,000 visitors a year.
The park allows its visitors to experience the four seasons: In spring and summer, flowers such as tulips and lavender delight the eye in the country garden; in autumn, visitors are able to enjoy foliage at the Ashiribetsu Waterfall; and in winter, they can go skiing and tube sliding, taking advantage of the snow unique to this park that is located in a cold and snowy area. In addition, the indoor play area is also attractive. This is a core facility for tourism in Sapporo, and as such a variety of events are held here, for example in cooperation with nearby flower events.
