The Lesser-Known Visage of Mt. Rokko
〜Visit the Erosion Control Dam That Protects Our Way of Life〜
Since the Great Hanshin Flood in 1938, erosion control projects have been undertaken in the Rokko Mountains to protect urban areas and important transportation networks from landslides.
Through on-site lectures and field trips in the Rokko Mountains, around 1,500 people annually become acquainted with past landslides and activities aimed at their prevention.
Also, the “Rokko Sabo Walk” is held around autumn each year to help familiarize local residents with these erosion control projects, accepting about a hundred participants each time.
