Kasegawa Dam

〜“Suikei-Mugen”: Giving thanks for the blessings of water〜

The Kasegawa Dam is a multipurpose dam situated on the Kasegawa River, which originates in the Sefuri mountain range at Saga City, flows south through the mountainous area, through the Saga Plains, and finally into the Ariake Sea.

The dam protects people from floods and supplies water both to the city and to about 9,000 hectares of farmland, and is used as a water source in the Saga Plains.

Next to the dam is Japan’s only dam station, called “Dam Station Fuji Shakunage-no-sato.” This station features a direct sales shop for agricultural and livestock products obtained in local Fuji-cho, and a restaurant where you can dine while looking out upon the waters of the lake. Also, the largest park golf course in the northern Kyushu area is available near the lake, used by many people throughout the year.

In the dam tour, we use panels, picture-story shows and dam models to explain the outline and operations of the dam, and give you a tour inside the embankment, which is not normally open to the public.
