The Nagashima Dam is thinking up ways to become even more well-known and loved by the local community.

One of those ways is “dam exploration.” The dam’s interior spaces are surrounded by concrete walls. This results in a mysterious phenomenon where the interior spaces are cooler than outside in summer and warmer in winter. The dam is famous for having one of the largest discharge gates in Japan.

You can ride the Oigawa Railway, which is the only Abt electric railway in Japan, and explore the Nagashima Dam as a set so you can enjoy the “one of the largest in Japan” and “the only one in Japan” at the same time.
