Omaesaki Lighthouse Enjoy the View from Omaezaki!

Omaesaki Lighthouse is located on Cape Omaezaki, which has long been considered difficult to navigate due to a scattering of reefs and a fast incoming tide current. Prior to the current Western-style lighthouse, the Edo Shogunate set up the Miobi Beacon.

The lighthouse is made of brick, and it is the first lighthouse in Japan to use a rotating first-order lens. The original lens cracked, so the lighthouse now uses a third-order lens.

Omaesaki Lighthouse is operated by Tokokai in order to provide education about navigation marks, and guests can enjoy the beautiful scenery from the top of the lighthouse. From the lighthouse, you can see the Izu Peninsula, Mt. Fuji, and the Akaishi Mountains. We hope you enjoy your trip to the Omaesaki Lighthouse.
