Tokushima-Komatsushima Port

〜Opening to the public of the sea surface cleaning and oil recovery ship “Mizuki” and the port service vessel “Hinomine”—Experience the Minato Tour〜

Tokushima-Komatsushima Port has the only ferry service in the Shikoku Region that operates a regular route to Tokyo, has regular container routes between Tokushima and overseas destinations, and serves as a center for the importation of raw materials for the manufacture of paper (one of Tokushima Prefecture’s main industries) and is a supply base for unprocessed timber for timber-related companies. As such, it plays an important role in supporting industry in the prefecture.

Every year during the Komatsushima Minato Festival held on Marine Day in July, the Komatsushima Port and Airport Maintenance Office opens its sea surface cleaning and oil recovery ship “Mizuki” to the public, and conducts “Minato (“Port”) Tours” on the port service vessel “Hinomine.” The Mizuki contributes to ensuring the safety of navigation and the preservation of the marine environment by collecting driftwood, garbage, and oil that has been discharged from ships. When the ship is opened to the public, visitors are able to see a demonstration of its garbage collection activities.
