Another Side of Tateyama Wisdom and Workings of Nature of a Caldera
〜Protecting livelihoods, “erosion control projects” 〜
The Tateyama caldera was formed by volcanic activity and subsequent erosion.
At the Tateyama Caldera Sabo Experience Study Tour, you can learn about the erosion control facilities protecting the Toyama Plain downstream.
Although it is usually difficult for the general public to enter, a professional guide will accompany and guide you.
During the tours held from July to October, you will be guided through locations including the (1) Shiraiwa Sabo Dam, (2) site of Tateyama Onsen, (3) Rokkyudani Observatory, and (4) Atotsugawa Fault Outcrop.
The Shiraiwa Sabo Dam has been designated as a National Important Cultural Property, and there are also the Dorodani Sabo Dams and the Hongu Sabo Dam.
You will be able to feel the magnificent workings of nature and wisdom from predecessors until the present through the tour.
There is also a truck train used now for erosion control construction, and it is one of the symbols of Tateyama Sabo.
